Licence 125 cc About Driving a
125cc bike or scooter in Spain.

I was in a meeting last week and we end up in the parking lot afterwards. Three English gentlemen and I. The sun was shining, they went for their cars when they suddenly saw my bike.
- Whow! I wish I had one of these so I could drive by all traffic, one of them said.
- Me to. But I don't have a driving licence for bikes. Only for cars.
- Same here, said the others.

I was really stunned for a while.
How can anyone "dont know" they can drive bikes on a car licence in Spain?

- Don't you know that you can drive a 125cc on your car licence? I asked.
A new law in Spain from last year.

They looked at each other and slowly shake their heads. Nooo.
- And a 125 is more like a moped, one of them said.
- I cant drive around with all my ladies in 50.
The other ones smiled, and confirmed, that was not what they was looking for either.

Well, I said, you CAN drive in 50 if you like.
But a 125cc (11kw) today can easily match the traffic speed on 340 between Marbella and Malaga. This new technology is far from the 125cc you probably remember from the late 50-70s.

Most of the bikes today officially goes in 120 km/h. And in reality a lot more. And the normal speed on the 340 is between 80-110. so..

Now they where really listening.
- And you don't have to buy a scooter model if you don't like them, almost all models of bikes are now available in 125cc.

Honda Varadero 125cc- A friend of me bought a Honda Varadero last week and it looks exactly like a 650. He is going to drive this model until he has practice enough to get a real licence for bikes.

We talked about bikes for half an hour, and I guess all of them will soon will join us on the roads, without all metal covers they carrie along today...
